The bride is taken to the Beegara Mane, the room where the groom’s family stay. The couple stand at the threshold and aarathi is performed. A decorated ‘seru’ (measuring can) filled with rice and jaggery is kept at the right side of the threshold. The bride gently pushes the ‘seru’ and enters the room with the sobalakki items, signifying that she will fill the house with happiness. Lakshmi puja is then done in the house.
