On an auspicious date, the bride’s parents host this ritual. Groom’s mother will bless the girl with Arishina Kumkuma, Fruits, Flowers, Artifacts, Cosmetics, Bangles, Jewellery, Saree and an engagement ring. The bride’s parents bless the groom and give him an engagement ring and other gifts. Traditionally the bride and groom were not supposed to see each other before the wedding. Hence elders would perform this custom of exchanging rings. After this, Lagna Patrika [Wedding card] would be written and read by the Priests which would contain information about the wedding date, muhurta time and the venue details. It is a formal announcement to the relatives and friends that both of them are engaged.
